In 2009, I spent a life changing month in the country of Uganda. There, my life was ripped apart, as God tore my will away from me, replacing it with His perfect and Holy will. My desires of being a hairdresser were thrown out the window, as I saw God calling me to full time ministry in Uganda. After I returned home form such a life changing month, everything I did became about Uganda. I attended Boise Bible College to study missions, and to better understand Scripture. My time at BBC only intensified my passion for missions and Uganda.
The past month of my life has brought answers to the calling God gave me back in 2009. A dear professor of mine spoke with me about my future. She encouraged me to step out, and find a ministry to work with before I had so many other commitments that when the opportunity came for me to leave, I would not be able to go. That conversation gave me the push I needed to go and make myself known to ministries, and allow God to get me on the mission field. I began with prayer. I prayed hard that God would guide my steps as I searched for the perfect ministry. Two days later, my mom sent me a text saying that Redeemer House Orphanage was looking to fill a spot of a good friend of mine. My church in Oregon is very connected to this orphanage, which is in Uganda. I then began the search of the right person to speak with. In less than a week, I was applying for the position. The day after I sent in my application, I had an interview. Everything seemed to go very well. I liked the lady I spoke with, and we seemed to be on the same page with everything. She asked me if I were able to be in the country in April, and willing to commit a year to the orphanage. None of that would be an issue in my book. I want more than anything to be back in Uganda, and a year commitment seemed like a no-brainer. She said she would pass the information to the board, and they would make the final decision. I began to pray even harder than I ever had before that God would give me this opportunity. I waited as patiently as I could to hear back from Redeemer House, and yesterday I heard that the Board decided to move forward with me. They want to meet me November First. This morning I saw an email saying they want me there sooner than April. I do not know what that will mean, but I know that God has a plan and a way for me to serve His children.
Now I am still aware that the "moving forward" step means that something could still happen, and I may not get to go. However, I know God has a plan and a will. I want to embrace this will. I want everything I am to be Him. He is my Savior, and the best I can do is follow Him. If He closes this door of opportunity, then I know He will bring me something better. I praise His name for bringing me this far, and cannot wait to see what He does next.
"Every good and perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of the heavenly lights, who does not change like shifting shadows." James 1:17
